My friends and I used to build our own toys and entertain ourselves by running, jumping, or just by making up our own games. Why were we so happy without having “everything”? I never asked myself that question until these days and the answer I found was always in front of me; in fact, it was inside me. The last ten years of my life have been the greatest. I had the privilege of getting married to my lovely wife and the unbelievable honor to be the father of two of the most noble, lovable, and pure human beings I have known. God gave the most precious gift a man could ask for: a family. Being a good parent is not an easy task- In fact, I do not know if I am one. Some days, situations become so challenging and overwhelming that just God is able to guide us and help us being successful. The complexity of the situations parents deal with requires a deep faith and a close relationship with our Father, because He is the one and only who can gets us through some days. Now the question is: how have we, as a family, established that close relationship with our Lord? Around seven years ago, God guided us to Saint Joan of Arc in order to attend a Sunday mass. That first experience –after trying to settle in different communities before- was so spiritually rich and deeply satisfactory that since that day we decided that Saint Joan was going to be the right place to honor God…we felt home that day. God was the reason I was so happy as a child with no materialistic belongings and He is obviously the reason why I am going through the best years of my life. Through God we have been able to achieve that unity with him as a family. And that unity is now stronger than ever thanks to the role each of the members of my family play at Saint Joan of Arc. Saturday has become the best day to share as a family. We are all excited to go to mass and be active in the celebration to our God. My son feels so proud to be an altar boy and so excited about being part of the choir with our daughter; and for my wife and I, being able to study the word of God before mass has given us the chance, not only to prepare in advance for the liturgy of the children, but also to integrate into our lives the powerful messages from His word. And even those activities our children belong to in the Spanish ministry have helped them improve their Spanish skills. Not only they want to have every day what they call “the big talk” in English but also in Spanish as we gather around our dining table to discuss and talk about the values God wants us to live by.We have been so blessed by God and being an active part of Saint Joan of Arc has played a fundamental role in that bond we have created with Him. Our faith and family are growing together since the day we recognized God as the most important member of our family.

Thank You St. Joan of Arc

I came to St Joan Of Arc for the first time about 3 years ago, after being diagnosed with cancer. I came to the church, “apparently” moved by the need of finding some hope for my scary situation. I say apparently, because now I know, that it was God who really brought me here.
