In this chapter, we describe the developmental changes that occur in toddlerhood, then address the impact of these on dyadic and family functioning. Complexity becomes the key – complexity of psychological processes; complexity of managing multiple, interconnected relationships; and complexity of behaviour – all in a context of partial awareness.
